The Granada Residence is a ground-up, two unit building located on a charming coastal street in San Clemente, California. With Spanish architecture a historical staple in this small beach town, we incorporated arched doorways, Saltillo tiles, and numerous other features throughout both units to honor the historical roots. Our relationship with these clients began years ago while working on the victoria duplex and we adore their authentic style to this day.
The duplex consists of two units designed at the same time, but with unique aesthetes in mind. Anticipated as the owners residence, the street facing unit was designed with a more playful, dramatic, and sophisticated palette which was accentuated with more natural light and special personal details. Personality can be seen in almost every detail from the switch plates to the art, the cabinet color to the bright tile colors.
The second unit is naturally darker and more private. Although no design detail was unattended, the space was seen as something that could easily be occupied by renters and owners alike. The space is filled with neutral colors and authentically Spanish materials. We honestly never know where the client is going to live because each unit offers such a different experience.
